Honor Our Active Duty Troopers
We as Vietnam Veterans have the opportunity to honor our present active duty 2/502 troopers. In our last letter you were informed of a plan to honor our active duty troops and to accomplish this we need to raise money.
Our goal is to get as many of them to the Nashville Reunion as possible. As Jim said, “I’d like to flood the place with O Deuce troops”.
We will begin with those who are assigned to the hospital at Ft. Campbell and are able to travel by themselves, and then branch out to the others in companies from the Battalion. Not to slight those of a higher rank, but our focus will be on those who are E6 and below. We would like a mixture of single and married troops with their wives.
To make it clear, we will pay the cost for the Association’s Hospitality Room, our Friday luncheon, Friday night Association Dinner, and a Hotel room for Friday night.
If you would like to sponsor an active duty person the cost is $140.00 per person.
We are in contact with those on the Division Reunion Committee to get information on what the Division Assn. would provide as to cost, i.e. Hospitality Room and Friday Night’s Dinner. We also have information on a Special rate at the hotel, for Friday night, for those who we will be able to attend the reunion. This has allowed us to set a budget, and give us a good estimation of the number of troops we will be able to invite.
The amount of the Donations to this cause will determine HOW many troops we will be able to invite.
Bottom line – We know that this is ABOVE what our normal reunion costs are. We know that this is something that is very special, because it is the 70th Anniversary of the 101st Airborne Division, and it is being held in Nashville, not far from Fort Campbell. This will make travel much easier for the troopers.
We are asking all of you to please help, by sending a donation of ANY amount to Jim Gould.
We know that this endeavor is NOT tax deductible, but we are hoping that this won’t be a problem with any of you. It’s for a very good cause.
